The good news is that it’s finished!
The other good news is that I love it. Don’t ya love it?
The bad news is that it’s much too small for me. I used the wool it called for (Paton’s merino) and the needles (3.75mm) it called for. But instead of getting 22 stitches to […]

My peacock Cherry Tree Hill clapotis yarn arrived today from Sandra Singh, and it is gorgeous! I love it. It’s beautiful to look at and luxurious to touch. Everything in me wants me to cast on today, but I am saving it until all my Christmas knitting is finished. I might even wrap it […]

Never let it be said I didn’t make enough hats.

I’ve been so busy knitting I haven’t taken time to update my knitting blog lately. I must confess I’ve been scaring myself a bit with a compulsively maniacal approach to knitting. I’m currently on a hat binge.
I finished Mike’s birthday hat and he says he has become a chick magnet…the girls are all over him […]

I really don’t need another hobby, especially a good one, since there are already not enough hours in the day to do all the things I love doing. But it was such a good deal. I got it at the Spinners and Weavers show – it was the only loom for sale, and it was […]

Ever have one of those weeks where you should just keep your hands away from the knitting needles because you’re just making a mess, and every time you try to fix the mess you make it worse? I keep putting aside my projects as I mess them up, with the aim of taking them to […]

My boudoir doll, Eliza, agreed to model Jonas’ strawberry hat, which is very nearly complete. I just have to weave in the ends, then it’s done! It’s adorable. Maybe I’ll whip up another one for Jonas’ big brother Gavin.
Eliza is one of eight boudoir dolls living in my living room, by the way. I found […]

Mike’s hat is coming along…slowly. Between the twisted rib stitch and what now seems like very slender yarn (Paton’s Decor), this hat seems to be taking forever. I started on Sunday October 23. Okay, it’s only 3 days, it just feels longer. His birthday was yesterday, so it’s late. Still…it’s awfully nice…and he does hate […]

Mystical Creations has the most exquisitely coloured yarns. I yearn for clapotises (clapotti?) in several of their 76 shades of blue (I threw in a red for good measure. Feel free to chime in and vote for one. I’d also welcome input from anybody who has ever made a clapotis using mystical creations yarn. Were […]

I struggle perpetually with the curse of indecisiveness.
Last night I lay awake thinking about the clapotis I am going to knit. For those of you unfamiliar with the infamous clapotis, here is the original clapotis. But there are a thousand others, each different from all the others, because of the infinite fibers available from which […]
