It’ll be a month tomorrow since Kazoo, the Double Yellow-Headed Amazon Parrot, came to live with me.
I love how he makes me work for our relationship. A dog will just love you instantly and unconditionally. A cat will give you plenty of opportunities to make yourself useful. But a parrot is still a wild […]

First I was sick for a couple of days, then GC got sick, then I got sick again. Right now we’re both sick.
Because I’m sick, I’ve been laying low and not doing too much. We did go to the last Ottawa Parrot Club meeting on Sunday. They’re putting the club on ice, at least […]

I think GC might have felt ever so slightly offended when I suggested recently that he was incapable of keeping a secret. I say this because several people tried their hardest to pry this particular secret out of him over the past few days, and his lips remained firmly sealed. Me, on the other […]

I follow Kijiji and UsedOttawa.com very closely when it comes to Birds for Sale. If a bird is listed on either of those sites, odds are I’ll know about it within a few hours.
Speaking of odd, I’ve noticed that bird folk can be a bit odd. I say this with the greatest respect and […]

I’m going through an unusually busy stretch, but I’ll be back soon. In the meantime, here are a few pictures I took at the Experimental Farm with the Hipstamatic. Don’t you think I’m lucky to live so close to the Farm, and to have a Hipstamatic?
This guy’s not from the Hipstamatic. But he’s a regular […]

Duncan in his leopard skin carrier
Duncan had his annual checkup yesterday, and guess what? He’s lost three pounds! He’s down to 19 pounds now. The vet says good for him, but he could still stand to lose a few more.
“He’s a big cat,” she said.
He’s also got some tartar on his teeth, […]

1. I saw my cancer surgeon today and she said I still appear to be cancer free, based on the mammogram and a feel. I have to go for an MRI next month to confirm, and I’m supposed to check in with both oncologists in the next six weeks, but things are looking good.
2. Those […]

Last night we were on Nepean Street near Bank Street, and we saw a dead pigeon in the snow. And then another. And another. And another. And another.
We were mystified. We know pigeons aren’t the brightest birds around, but they must have some instinct for survival. What do you suppose happened to them?

I was planning to take the whole week off blogging while I was gone, but I’m with three regular blog readers and they need a fix. Me too.
I was a little stumped about what to blog about though. I didn’t bring the camera’s USB cable, so I can’t get my photos out of my camera […]
