Couple of housekeeping notes

Don’t worry, I’m not about to start giving you household tips or anything like that. You’ve already seen my living room, so it’s too late for that.

Lately things have been a little shaky from a technological perspective here at knitnut.net.

Some of you have brought it to my attention that there’s a weird error message cropping up when you try to come to my blog. It says you’ve been banned for spamming.

It tells me I’ve been banned too.

I’ve alerted my web host, and hopefully they can fix it. In the meantime, you should be able to get to my blog just fine if you go to knitnut.net instead of www.knitnut.net.

Secondly, I’ve been having some other intermittent problems with my web server over the past few months. Consequently, I’ve requested that my web host transfer my blog to one of their other servers. They’ve agreed. The transfer will take place sometime between Monday and Wednesday. There will likely be some down time, but I can’t be more specific that that.

Anyway, I hope you’ll bear with me. With a little luck this move will take place with a minimum of disruption and the intermittent problems will be resolved.

I sure could use some household tips. But, honestly, your livingroom looked nothing but warm and comfortable and home to creativity.

  • Thanks raino and grace. But I still can’t give you and household tips. (Although…if anybody knows how to get red acrylic paint off leather, that would be something I’d find helpful.)

By the way – the issue with the message saying you’ve been banned appears to have been resolved. Woohoo.

Is Duncan declawed? and if not, how do you get him to not claw the leather furniture?

  • No he’s not de-clawed. He’s got a nice custom-built scratching post and impeccable manners – he never deliberately scratches the leather. It sometimes happens by accident as he’s jumping on or off the furniture, but never on purpose.

Zoom, re red acrylic paint on leather….a toothbrush and extra virgin olive oil will work! Some patience will help it along as well.

  • I’ll keep my fingers crossed for you Zoom

We are all aware of Duncan’s impeccable manners…especially when he pees on GC’s clothes and your bed. But we don’t know what to do about Fergus…he’s almost 15 years old and he is destroying the new leather set that we bought.

RE: Paint…try WD40, apparently it works on everything and attracts fish.

What do you do about Fergus? First clip his claws (make sure to clip the tips, not the quick,) then make sure he has a sturdy scratching post (no flimsy plastic thing that falls over with any real scratching) with good carpeting (no loops for his claws to get caught in). Try putting it in the same room as it new leather set, even if it doesn’t go with the furniture!

I know some people put those funny glue on caps to the tips of their cats claws, though I’ve always thought they’d be able to pry them off in no time, but it could be worth a try if all else fails. Also some people put this double sided sticky stuff to deter the cats because they reach up and their paw touches the sticky stuff, and they don’t like it.

      Good luck!
