This is an experiment in collaborative blogging. The pictures are here and the words are over at XUP’s blog. That’s because I’m too busy eating a pork lunch to blog.

Mordechai (aka Morty): ridiculously cute and extremely popular bulldog puppy

Anybody can be cool if they know how to accessorize.
Or if they’re a Hundred and Eighty Pounds:
This was Shelter #1. I was thinking about who we’d have to eat first if the storm went on for days. XUP suggested we could eat our way through the cookie tent first, followed by the food-scented soaps. (She’s a vegetarian.)
I didn’t get pictures of our second or third shelters, or of the coffee shop. I was trying to keep the camera dry.
But after XUP left to catch her bus, I huddled for an hour under an overhang, waiting for the unrelenting wind and rain to relent a little bit. This is a picture of the huddled masses in the shelter across the street from my overhang.
I took a picture of these brave souls. I don’t know where they were going, but I hope they made it.
(Don’t forget to go read the words over at XUP’s.)

Zoom, I missed you by a couple of storms… I showed up in time for the last big blast of rain. Erratic G and I took refuge under the Caribbean food tent. The lovely family that ran the food tent sheltered us, fed us, and chatted with us for half an hour. Then we had the pleasure of seeing/ hearing the incredible Ms Kyrie Kristmanson http://www.myspace.com/kyriekristmanson
Thanks for the ridiculously cute post….
Morty just told me that he loved meeting you. He’s a big fan of yours, you know. Sometimes I come home and catch him looking at pictures of Duncan. He’s been asking about “sooop” too, and the mispronunciation was so cute that I didn’t correct him.
Damn if this isn’t even more fun than actually being there! I only wish you’d gotten a photo of the masses huddled around the entrance to the funeral home. That could have been amusing somewhere down the line. Excellent photos. I like how they start out bright and crisp and get progressively darker and greyer — just like the real day.
Woodsy, if we’d been smart we would have sheltered in a food tent too, rather than a food-scented soap tent. 😉
Andrea, I loved meeting Morty too, even though I had to wait in line half an hour to do so. You should charge admission to that puppy!
XUP, oh yeah, the funeral home! I forgot. In retrospect there were many, many things I wish I’d taken pictures of. Next time we go on a collaborative blogging adventure, we should plan it in advance so I’ll concentrate more on the photography. (I should have taken a picture of the $100 dog food bowl. Geez.)
Oh my! Morty is so cute. What a cute winkled pup! I really wish I would have gone to Westfest this year. From reading other people’s blogs, I see that it keeps getting better and better.
