He *could* be Roy Orbison but he’s not Roy Orbison: he makes a point of telling people he’s Elvis. And he’s not blind. Here’s a post I wrote about him from last summer: On the way to the Lumiere Festival. It’s a bit uncharitable.
I must confess to having walked by the camouflaged swap box dozens – maybe hundreds! – of times without seeing it. Then Robin asked if I’d seen it yet, and told me exactly where to find it.
Like that placement of swap box! I like Ottawa’s diversity like that. Standing at a corner with a military fatigues, a studded punk rocker in blue hair and an office lady. It a pleasure of at least outward variability.
Today (Thursday) at Lileks Bleat, he shows a photo he snapped of a Liberty Tax prep hawker. http://www.lileks.com/bleats/index.html
Coincidence? I think not.
Just a minor point, but Roy Orbison was not blind, he just wore dark glasses. But if he was still alive he could be blind now. So could Elvis for that matter. But that’s just me being pedantic. You remind me that cool people and things are out there if we open up enough to become aware of them and if we’re feeling courageous, we might also interact with them.
I wonder if the Ottawa Elvis Sighting Society knows about this guy. Mind you, it could by Roy Orbison.

I love that Elvis is playing next to a sign for “Chinese Medical Massage”!!
That swap box is camouflaged
Funny – I saw Accordian Elvis on the bus yesterday at lunch time and thought “wow – that dude looks like Elvis. weird!”
How do you catch this stuff (re: swap box) when you’re out and about town?
